Most of these higher priced daylilies are purchased by collectors or hybridizers trying to get some new genetics into their breeding lines. I've always said that a gift of an order of daylilies is a triple treat. First you receive a notice saying that you will be(1) receiving a daylily (2) then you will receive your plant and finally (3) you get your third treat when your daylily blooms. And the best thing of all is that your gift will only get better with time. One clump of daylilies can go a long way in landscaping as you divide it over the years.

Hybridizing daylilies is very easy. If you are interested in creating a unique daylily of your own we encourage you to try. We'll be glad to show you how it's done. Age is no obstacle. There are some very young hybridizer's who have introduced daylilies of their own. We have some of these daylilies in our garden.
