As our lives become increasingly more hectic and wrapped up in electronic devices we are losing touch with the other world that is just outside our door. Mother nature provides a feast for our senses if we only take the time to enjoy it. We have found a way to help you get in touch with nature, even if you have some physical restrictions.

Here at Firefly Hollow I have been more blessed than most with 95 acres of paradise. As much as I enjoy it I feel that it should be shared with others. So I am pleased to offer private tours along our 3 miles of wooded trails on Segway® Transporters. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Segways they are self balancing two wheeled devices that are battery powered. If you can stand on your own you should be able to operate a Segway. With our X2's and their second generation of Segway technology, the rider uses their weight to control speed forward and backwards and for stopping. Handlebars lean left or right for steering. Segways® are so quiet that they allow us to move among the birds with minimal disturbance. No noisy motors to drown out the sounds of nature. The X2's have large all terrain tires that climb and navigate the natural trails with ease. So don't let physical limitations prevent you from enjoying a venture deep into the woods. Each tour includes 1/2 hour of training and 1 hour of time on the trails. Bottled water is included. We recommend wearing long pants and closed toe shoes.

RESTRICTIONS: Riders must be 18 years of age or older and weigh between 100 lbs and 250 lbs. All riders must sign a waiver before riding Segways®.Riders are also required to wear helmets (supplied by Firefly Hollow).

THE TOUR: Let me tour you over the miles of wide trails, up and down hills, through meadows and over the creek. Fall is spectacular with the multi colored canopy overhead. During the spring you may even get a great view of our 30' high waterfall.I have a list of over 80 species of birds we have seen here at Firefly Hollow. Even the Cerulean Warbler is a resident here. The bird activity is plentiful and I love to guide you through our property spotting birds for you and identifying many by their calls. For inexperienced birders I will help you learn how to adjust your binoculars for the best performance as well as teach you some of the tricks to using them most efficiently. If you would like to bring your own X2 Segway the cost is $25 per person. Or you can join us on foot at no charge if accompanying a rider. The Segways® travel at a pace that allows folks to hike along comfortably with them. During the birding tours there will be short rides along with stopping for periods of time.
